How to Customize Drum Sticks

The standard, or classic, customized drumsticks have your name engraved on them. As such, with the right tool, you can personalize your drumsticks by engraving your name or nickname, thus customizing your drumsticks yourself. However, there's no reason you can't customize your drumsticks in a way that's more creative and artistic, adding color and flash, giving your drumsticks a unique look that says something about your personality. How you choose to customize your drumsticks is up to you. Use any one or all of the methods below and have fun with the concept.

Instructions

    • 1

Etch your name onto your drumsticks using a wood burning pen, which is really nothing more than a soldering iron with a chisel end. You may wish to practice writing your name on a scrap piece of wood before etching your drumsticks.

    • 2

Decorate your drumstick with original artwork. Paint on designs, as ornate and elaborate as desired. Consider hiring an airbrush artist to do the work. When finished, seal the images with a sealant to protect them against wear with use.

    • 3

Add stickers to your drumsticks for decorations. Add just a few at the ends or cover the drumsticks, giving your drumsticks a sort of tattooed look.

    • 4

Mount small, self-contained, battery-operated LEDs on the ends of your drumsticks so that when you twirl them, colored lights will twirl in the air. For instance, use a belly button LED. Either glue it directly to the end of the drumstick or glue/mount a piece of metal on the end of your drumstick as these LEDs have magnets with them.
