How to Repair a Drawer Slide
A broken drawer slide can create a lot of frustration when you're trying to open a drawer. The drawer may be difficult to pull, or it could come out at the wrong angle and jam. Even worse, it could come out too quickly, not stop and fall on the floor or on someone's foot. - Phillips head screwdriver
- Replacement drawer slides
- Hacksaw
- Pliers

Examine the drawer slides and determine whether screws are loose or missing or whether the slides are bent. If there are loose or missing screws, tighten or replace them.

Remove the drawer by pulling it all the way out and lifting up on the front. Remove and reshape bent drawer slides with pliers and replace them.

Bring the old drawer slides to the hardware or home improvement store when you look for replacements. Try to find the same type, but if that is not possible, you might have to buy ones that are close in appearance and cut them with a hacksaw to fit.

Install the new slides onto the cabinet and the side of the drawer. Place them on the same spot on the drawer and the cabinet as the old slides to avoid alignment problems. New screws might not fit into the old, stripped holes. If this is the case, most slides have ample space to relocate the screws. You shouldn't need a drill.

Replace the drawer and operate as normal.
