Instructions

    • 1

Measure the quilt you're going to hang to determine how far down it will hang from the bar. If the quilt is going to be folded over the bar of the quilt rack, then measure from the top of the fold to the edge of the quilt.

    • 2

Find the central point on your wall where the quilt rack will be mounted and determine how far up the wall the quilt needs to hang so that it displays well. Keep in mind that the higher up the shelf is the less you'll be able to see of the items on it; leave at least a foot of clearance between the ceiling and the shelf.

    • 3

Determine the distance between the brackets on the back of your shelf by measuring between them. Use this distance and your level to mark on your wall each point where a nail or screw is necessary.

    • 4

Hammer or drill your nails or screws into the wall. The nails or screws should stick out enough into hook the brackets on the back of the shelf.

    • 5

Mount the quilt rack shelf on the wall, and make sure it is sturdy. Hang your quilt on the bar and place any items you wish on the shelf.

Tips & Warnings

  • If the bar on the shelf rack is made from wood, consider placing a strip of scrap fabric between the bar and the quilt you're hanging to protect the quilt's fabric from possible snags from coming into contact with the wood.

  • Don't place your shelf where your quilt will be exposed to direct sunlight. The fabric color may fade and breakdown over time.
