How to Make Key Covers
The keys that you carry with you on a ring can get dirty from what you come into contact with on a daily basis, and the filth can spread to other items in your purse or pockets. Ensure cleanliness by making your own key covers.
Things You'll Need

1
Place your two pieces of 4-by-6-inch fabric together so that the right sides, or the printed sides of the fabric, are facing each other. Sew along three of the edges a quarter of an inch from the edge, leaving one of the 4-inch edges open. Turn the fabric right side out and press the fabric with a clothing iron.

2
Lay the fabric in front of you so that you have a wide and short rectangle. Fold the fabric in half from left to right so that the fabric that you want on the outside of your key cover is on the inside of the fold if you are using two different pieces of fabric. Sew a quarter of an inch from the edge of the fabric along the vertical edge to form a tube. Sew around one of the open edges of the tube with a simple back and forth stitch. Once you make it all the way around the fabric, pull the two ends of the stitch to bunch the fabric and tie the two ends of the thread together. You want to bunch the fabric until there is a dime-size opening at that end.

Take your piece of ribbon and fold it in half. Thread your blank key ring onto your ribbon, bringing it down to rest in the fold of the ribbon. Sew a quarter of an inch from the raw edges of the ribbon to make it into a lanyard. Sew a quarter of an inch from the fold of the ribbon to hold to key ring in place.

Thread your ribbon lanyard through your fabric tube, starting at the open end and then through the scrunched end. Put your keys on the blank key ring of the ribbon lanyard. The fabric tube should cover your keys now.
