How to Repair Zip Files
You've finally found the files you need and you've just downloaded them to your computer. They are in a zipped folder---no sweat. You'll just extract them the way you always have, right? Then a problem occurs during extraction. You get an error that the file is damaged. What do you do? It took forever to find this, and it's the only copy you could get. Relax. Chances are the file can be repaired using the right software.

1
Download and install the Winrar extraction software (See Resources). Although it is free for the first 40 days, you should be able to repair your files in under an hour.
-
2
Right-click your damaged zip file and click "Open." All your zip files are now associated with Winrar, and so by default it will open all of them. The program will open and show you the contents of your zip file.

Right-click the first item in the list, which should be a folder icon with "..." next to it. This icon represents everything in the archive, and it's like a short way of selecting everything. On the menu that just opened, select "Repair archive" and select the destination for the repaired archive to be stored. Wait for it to finish (it may take a while depending on how big the file is) and when it is done you'll have your files fully repaired and uncorrupted.
