How to Make a Cute Cell Phone Holder
Consider making a cute cell phone holder if you can't find one that suits you or fits your phone. Put your cell phone on a piece of paper and trace the shape of it with a pen. Trace around the outline for a larger shape that's about a half-inch larger than the original to allow for seams. Cut out the shape to use as a paper pattern.

Fold a piece of fabric in half with right sides together. Lay the paper pattern on the fabric. Trace the shape of the pattern on the fabric with your pen, pin them together with straight pins and cut them out. You now have two identical pieces, which will form the outside panels of your cell phone holder.

Lay two pieces of coordinating felt or fleece down. Trace the shape of the pattern on them as well, pinning the pieces together and cutting them out. This will be the soft, protective inner lining of your cell phone holder.

Take the pins out of the two inner pieces. Lay the two inner pieces on each of the two outer pieces (keep the right sides facing out). Place the two pieces together with the outer panels on the inside and the inside linings facing out. Make sure all of the edges are lined up and pin the four pieces together so they don't shift while you sew.

Sew all four pieces together, staying about 1/4 inch away from the edges, around three sides. You can use a sewing machine on the straight-stitch setting or just sew by hand with a needle and thread. Don't sew the side that you will be using as the opening. Create a lock-stitch at the beginning and the end of your stitches by running the needle back and forth several times.

Turn the holder inside-out so that the fleece or felt is now on the inside with the outer panels facing out. Now fold the tops of the inner and outer panels inward and hand-stitch the seams.

Cut a 2 1/2-by-3 1/2-inch strip out of your fabric . This will be the flap for the button.

Fold the strip in half with the right sides together. Sew around the outside edges, leaving one end open. Turn the piece inside out. The pattern should now face out. Sew the open end of the flap to the back of the cell phone holder near the top.

Fold the flap down over the opening and make a mark in the center near the bottom of the flap. This is where you will make the opening for the button to slip through. Mark the spot where the button should be on the front of the holder. Sew the button in place. Lay the flap out on a table and use a utility knife to carefully make a slit just large enough for the button to slip through. Run a stitch around the button hole so the fabric doesn't fray.

Attach a key chain to your cell phone holder so you can put it on the belt loop of your pants or the strap of your purse. Decorate your cell phone holder with small fabric embellishments such as flowers, bows or other buttons.
