How to Convert a TV Armoire to a Computer Armoire
Having a computer in your home can increase your productivity and help you get more done, but it is important to set up a comfortable workspace. If you do not take the time to plan out your workspace you may find that you are sore and uncomfortable at the end of the day, and that could cause you to stay away from the computer and miss out on the things you need to get done. If you have an unused TV armoire, you can convert it to an excellent computer workstation.

Remove all of the items from your TV armoire. Find a new spot for that TV, VCR, DVD player and other equipment.

Move the TV armoire to the the room where you want it, but do not place it too close to the wall. You will need space to work both in front of and behind the armoire.

Sit in front of the TV armoire and find a suitable height for your computer monitor. If the armoire has adjustable shelves, move the shelves to the proper height.

Place the computer monitor on the armoire in a spot where it will be comfortable for you to look at. Place the computer's CPU in a spot where it will be out of the way but easy to access. If you have a small computer it will fit perfectly in the spot where the VCR or DVD player would have sat in the TV armoire.

Attach a keyboard drawer to the TV armoire. You can attach this drawer to the bottom of the section where the TV would have sat. This keyboard drawer will hold the keyboard and mouse and keep them out of the way when they are not in use. When you are ready to use the computer you simply slide the tray out.

Move to the back of the TV armoire and connect the cables and power cords. Make sure your power cords are going into a surge protector or UPS---this will protect your computer equipment in the event of a power failure or lightning strike.

Slide the TV armoire back against the wall and find a comfortable spot for your chair. You may want to put a chair mat down if your room is carpeted. This will make it easier to move around as you work.
