How to Back Up IncrediMail

Save

One of the problems with a computer is that you never know when it is going to crash or corrupt your files. For that reason, it is always a good idea to back up your data, including your email files. The IncrediMail program has a built-in feature that will allow you to back up your data. The hardest part of the process is determining the location you want your IncrediMail data to be backed up to.

Things You'll Need

  • External hard drive
  • Connect a USB flash drive or other external hard drive to the USB port of your computer. While you can skip this step and choose to back up your data to another folder on your computer, it is not recommended. Backing up to a folder on your computer defeats the purpose of backing up the information. If your computer crashes, the folder containing the data will also be lost.

  • Open the IncrediMail program.

  • Select "File" from the IncrediMail menu bar.

  • Select "Data & Settings Transfer."

  • Choose the option to "Transfer to a New Computer." Click "Continue."

  • Select your USB flash drive or external hard drive from the "File Location" drop-down menu.

  • Enter a "File Name" for your backed-up files. The file name will help you to distinguish the file from all others that may be on your flash or external hard drive.

  • Click the "Save" button. IncrediMail will automatically create the backup data file on your flash or external hard drive. This may take a few minutes to complete, depending on the speed of your computer and the size and number of files that need to be backed up. Avoid pressing the "Cancel" button since doing so will require you to start the process all over again.

  • Click "OK" when you see the prompt indicating that your files have been backed up.

  • Disconnect your flash or external hard drive from the USB port of your computer.
