How to Delete Songs & Photos From Your Zune MP3 Player
With devices ranging from 4GB to 120GB of storage--for models available as of January 2010--Microsoft Zune offers a lot of space for music, photos and videos. Sometimes, though, that space just isn't enough. The only way to free up memory space on your Zune is to delete some of the content that is already on it. Taking songs and photos off of your Zune is quite similar to adding them and can be completed using the same equipment.

Deleting Music from Your Zune

Open the Zune software on your computer.

Connect your Zune to your computer using the supplied Zune sync cable. When your computer recognizes that your Zune is connected to it, it will show up in the destination selection.

Click on "device" in the destination selection.

Click on "music," which will bring up a list of all of the music stored on your Zune.

Find the song you want to delete and click on it with your mouse to highlight it.

Right-click on the song and scroll to and click on "Delete from ..." Whatever name you've given your Zune will appear after "Delete from." Example -- "Delete from Joe's Zune."

Click the "OK" button to confirm that you want to delete the song from your Zune.
Deleting Photos from Your Zune

Open the Zune software on your computer by double-clicking the desktop icon or selecting it from your applications list.

Connect your Zune using the Zune sync cable that comes with your Zune. When your computer recognizes your Zune, it will appear as a device in the destination selection. When it appears, click on it.

Click on "photos" to bring up all of the photos stored on your Zune.

Find the photo you want to delete and click on it with your mouse to highlight it. Once it is highlighted, right-click on it and scroll to and click on "Delete from ..."

Click the "OK" button to confirm the deletion.

Tips & Warnings
To delete multiple items at the same time, hold the control button down as you click on items to delete. Rather than deleting one item when you right-click, you will delete all of the highlighted items.
If the songs and/or photos that you delete from your Zune are not saved in your Zune library they will be lost after you delete them from your Zune.
