The iPod mini is a small device used to hold a limited amount of songs. The iPod mini holds a much smaller amount of songs than the larger iPods. When you have auto-manage set in iTunes, you notice "Song Transfer" is grayed out. To add and delete songs manually to the iPod mini, you need to configure the software for manual management. Once this setting is configured, you can add and delete songs on the iPod mini without any restrictions.
Connect the USB cable to the iPod and the computer. The computer detects the attachment and automatically starts iTunes.
Click the iPod icon on the left navigation bar in iTunes. Click the "Summary" tab. In this tab, check the box labeled "Manually manage music and videos." Click the "Apply" button.
Click the "Songs" icon underneath the the iPod icon in the left navigation bar.
Click the song you want to delete in the iTunes library. Press the"Delete" key. Click "Yes" to confirm you want to delete the song.
