How to Care for Blue Suede Dansko
Dansko makes shoes in leather and suede. Well-known for their clogs, Dansko also makes other types of shoes, including boots and sandals. Suede shoes are soft and comfortable but require special care to keep the color bright, and the suede supple and stain-free. If you spend just a few minutes every week or two to clean your blue suede Dansko shoes, and care for them properly, they should last a long time. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Clean your blue suede Dansko regularly (at least once a month if you wear them often). Start by brushing your blue suede Dansko with a suede brush to raise the nap and lift some stains.
-
2
Treat remaining stains with a Dansko nubuck and suede bar. You can find suede bars at stores that sell suede products. Just rub the bar over the stains as if you were erasing pencil marks on paper.

3
Brush the suede again to rid the blue suede of dirt flecks and to lift the nap. Dansko recommends using a suede spray after cleaning. Hold the spray a foot or 2 away from the shoes and spray the entire suede surface. The suede spray will help repel water and dirt.
-
4
Set your Dansko shoes aside to dry overnight before wearing them again. You should spray the shoes after each cleaning and, although the spray will provide some protection against water, you must still avoid getting the suede wet. Suede is easily damaged by water.
-
5
Store blue suede Dansko shoes in a dry area (such as a bedroom closet), when you aren't wearing them. Suede, like all leather, can mildew and rot if stored in humid areas such as a basement.

Tips & Warnings
If you cannot find Dansko brand suede spray or suede bar, use another brand.
Cleaners other than a suede bar may fade or discolor suede. If you use any other cleaner, make sure to test it first.
