How to Change List Styles in Word 2007

Microsoft Word 2007 offers various ways of presenting lists. You can choose from numerical list styles as well as multiple symbolic list styles. You can create list style before making your list, and you can also change the style later if you decide it's necessary to do so. You only need to follow a few simple directions to accomplish this task.

Instructions

    • 1

Move your cursor across the picture of bullets (black dots in a vertical column) on the toolbar at the top of the screen.

    • 2

Click on the arrow just to the right of the bullets. This opens a window of symbol-type bullets, including black dots, circles and arrows. If you'd rather have a numbered list, click on the arrow next to the numbers 1,2,3 (to the right of the bullets). This opens a window of options including numbers, letters and Roman numerals.

    • 3

Click on the type of bullet or numbering you want and type your list. Whenever you hit the enter key, a new bullet will appear.

    • 4

Highlight your bulleted list by clicking and dragging your cursor across the list if you desire to change the list style.

    • 5

Click on the arrow next to the bullets icon or the arrow next to the numbered list icon in order to change your list style. Once you click on a new style, it will be applied to your entire highlighted section.
