Having a decorative fence planter is a welcome addition to any landscaping design. Add a planter to a fence to jazz up an otherwise boring fence-line. Purchase metal hook or hanging brackets designed specifically for hanging planters. These are available at many home and garden stores and come with screws or bolts for attachment.

Measure the length of your planter and mark an area about six to eight inches away from both ends. This is where you'll mount your hanging brackets.

Attach the brackets to the back of the planter at the marked points. Screw the brackets into the back of the planter tightly.

Hang the planter on the top of the fence and ensure that it sits evenly. Use a level to make sure the weight is evenly dispersed.

Tips & Warnings
Fill your planter with soil and plant flowers after you've hung it on the fence. This will prevent you from having to lift a heavier planter.
