How to Make Tea Cakes from Scratch

Tea cakes are a bread-like cookie that is famous for being served with afternoon tea. The exact ingredients and flavor vary greatly in different areas of the world.   • 1 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup of butter
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 3 tablespoons of milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla

      Cream the butter. Then add in the sugar and continue to cream the mixture. (See "Things You'll Need" for all ingredient amounts.)

      Beat the egg and mix it in along with the salt and vanilla.

      Sift the flour and baking powder together. Then add it in the cream mixture, alternatively with the milk.
