Dandruff can be a social stigma and lead to self-esteem problems. The condition of having excess dead skin cells on your scalp tends to happen during the winter. Dandruff treatment can be done with home remedies. If you have skin conditions like eczema, however, you'll more than likely need to see a doctor. Dry skin, irritated skin or other skin conditions all can cause dandruff. Some of the ingredients in the hair products you're using could also be causing dandruff. You can try some natural methods to get rid of the problem.
Things You'll Need
- Coconut oil
- Olive oil
- Crushed rosemary leaves
- Shampoo with vitamin E, aloe vera or tea tree oil
- Diet rich in fish, walnuts, cabbage, red grapes and strawberries
Put virgin coconut oil in your hair. It helps irritated skin heal and promotes healthy skin. Leave it in for at least an hour before washing with shampoo. Massage it into your scalp as well. You should put the oil in your hair every day. You'll get rid of dandruff quickly.
Use virgin olive oil, mixed with crushed rosemary leaves. This is another oil the can help treat dandruff quickly. Heat a few tablespoons of olive oil in the microwave. Put it in your hair with the rosemary. Leave it in for about an hour before washing.
Pick a better shampoo. Look for ingredients rather than specific brands. Vitamin E, for example, helps promote healthy skin and hair. Also look for aloe vera, a good source of vitamin B12, and tea tree oil. Tea tree oil helps repair the skin and is anti-inflammatory.
Eat a better diet. Too much sodium and saturated fats can cause health problems. Eat more foods that promote skin and hair health. Eat foods high in omega-3 fatty acids. These include fish, walnuts, cabbage and strawberries. Also, you want to eat plenty of fruit. Eat a lot of red grapes, since they contain resveratrol, which has anti-aging benefits. Fruits are rich in antioxidants as well.
