How to Remove a Focus Ignition Switch

The Ford Focus ignition switch sends a signal to the starter motor. The Focus uses a transponder inside the key to prevent unauthorized engine starting. If the switch is damaged, the car may not start. Because of the sophisticated anti-theft deterrent system on the Focus, you'll need to order a replacement ignition switch from a Ford dealership. You'll need to show proof of ownership of your vehicle before the dealer will sell you a replacement switch and key.
