How to Change a Font in an Entire MS Word Document

MS Word is a word processing program used to create written documents. One of the great things about Word is that if has different fonts for your text which allows you to personalize the look of your document.

Instructions

      Turn on your computer and open the MS word program. Wait for it to fully open.

      Click on the "File" menu and then click "Open." Browse through the folders on your computer to find your file. Click it to select it and then click the "Open" button.

      Press the "Control" and the "A" buttons on your keyboard to select all of the text in the document. You know you have done this correctly if the text is highlighted.

      Click on the "Format" menu option on the top of the Word screen. Scroll down in the drop down menu and click on "Font" to open up the Font option window.

      Click on the arrows next to the box that holds a list of the available. Click on the font title to display what the font will look like in the preview box on the bottom of the font option screen. When you have found the font you like, click "OK."

      Scroll through the document to look at how the new font looks on the page. If you don't like it, repeat the steps.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can only select fonts that you have installed on the computer. If you need a certain font that is not listed, you will need to install it.
