How to Write a Fiction Blog
Fiction blogs are blogs that are written by a fictional character, often posted in real time. Fiction blogging has many advantages; it can be a fun way to start a writing project, receiving comments can be encouraging and fun, and the format of a blog allows for limitless possibilities of incorporating pictures and other multimedia. Planning ahead can make the process much smoother, and increase your chances for writing a successful blog.

1
Plan your character and the main outline of your blog. It can be fun to make stuff up as you go, but deciding some key character traits and central plots will make your blog much more consistent and help you when you're stuck on what to write.

2
Decide how often you're going to post, and don't be too ambitious. Updating once or twice a week is usually a good amount. If you try and update too often, you risk not having time, but if you don't update enough, you might lose reader interest. Quality is always more important than quantity.

3
Write a stockpile of entries, at least your first three or four. Having a backup in case you need a week off is always a good idea.

4
Sign up for a free blog online on a site like Blogger or Livejournal. Use free stock art to make an attractive banner image, and make sure your text is easily readable. Black text on a white screen is best. Post your first entry.

5
Publicize your blog. Post the link on your Facebook, Twitter or MySpace page, and send it to your friends. Comment on other blogs; you'll receive many "return comments." Always visit the blogs of your commenters, too, to build good relationships.
