How to Give Your Skin More Color Without Tanning Lotion or Beds
Tanning has become increasingly popular over the years, thanks in part to the invention of the tanning bed. Tanning beds promise a faster tan using more concentrated amounts of UVA rays. However, UVA rays have been shown to increase a person's risk of sun damage and skin cancer. There are alternatives to tanning without utilizing such harmful rays. These can be done at home or at a tanning salon and are easier on your wallet and your skin health. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Apply a sunless tanning lotion after showering every day until the desired color is achieved. Exfoliating the skin while in the shower, before application, will aid in color retention and give you an even color development, eliminating streaks and blotches.

2
Visit your local tanning salon for a spray tan. This method requires that you step into a booth, undress, and allow the spray jets to apply the tanning solution. This can give you an even tan and allows you to choose your desired color.

Apply an aerosol tanning spray once a week. Pull hair back and off of your face and exfoliate your skin first; then spray an even, fine mist onto the skin. This is somewhat like a do-it-yourself salon spray tan, and color can develop rapidly without daily reapplication.

4
Apply a bronzer to your face, neck and chest. This makeup application will give you a sun-kissed glow without actually being in the sun. Some bronzers contain sunblock of SPF 15 or higher, giving you the added benefit of UVA protection.
