How to Disable TV Cable Yourself

If you are like millions of other Americans, you receive your television programming via cable. However, cable companies constantly seem to increase the monthly payments for the programming, and eventually this becomes far too expensive. If you find yourself in this situation, you may want to disable the cable television yourself. This saves you the time of waiting for a cable technician to stop by and pick up the equipment

Things You'll Need

• Television
• Cable
• Cable receiver

Instructions

1. Power down both the cable receiver and the television.

2. Remove the power cord running from the cable receiver to the power outlet.

3. Look behind the cable receiver and the television. Find the cable running from your wall to the receiver. Remove this cable from the receiver. You do not need to return this cable to the cable company.

4. Disconnect the cable running from the cable receiver to the television. It is a good idea to return this cable back to the cable company; however, it is typically not necessary and often not required.

5. Return the cable receiver and, if required, the cable that ran between the receiver to the television back to your local cable provider.
