How to Protect the Floor Under a Vending Machine

Vending machines benefit a workplace in many ways. They can add revenue for the business owners and also raise morale for the employees by providing relatively inexpensive snacks. There are things to consider when adding a vending machine to your office. The location is obviously the first priority as you need space and a power source. Another consideration is protecting the floor that the heavy machine sits on. Fortunately, protecting floors under vending machines is a simple process.

Things You'll Need

• Mop
• Floor wax
• Tape measure
• Floor mat

Instructions

1. Verify that the floor is well waxed where the machine will be placed. Wax helps protect the floor from scratches and damage. If the floor is not waxed, wash the floor and apply floor wax with a mop to the area.

2. Measure with a tape measure the dimensions of the vending machine to figure out how much floor space it uses.

3. Once the floor is waxed and dried, lay down a protective mat that fits the dimensions of the vending machine.

4. Place the vending machine on top of the protective mat. The mat, combined with the wax coating underneath, will protect the floor from damage.

Tips & Warnings

• Some floor waxes require an additional treatment when used. Follow the instructions on the floor wax bottle to maximize its protective benefits.

• Some floor types should not be waxed. If the vending machine is on a no-wax floor, just use a thicker mat.
