How to Store a File in a Microsoft Access Database

Microsoft Access is a program located in the Microsoft Office programs suite. It provides easy database management solutions for homes and businesses. The program allows users to store files in specified databases, and it allows them to name files anything they choose so that they may have no trouble looking it up at a later date. So do not be intimidated---with a few quick steps, your files can be safely stored in a Microsoft Access database.

Instructions

    • 1

Open Microsoft Access and click on "Import Wizard," which is located under the Tools tab.

    • 2

Select the location from where you would like to import the file and the type of file you will be importing. Excel documents are the most commonly imported files into the Access program, so the file type is set to these files by default.

    • 3

Click on "Import" after you have selected a file. The file should then be opened in Access. You are now ready to save and store the file.

    • 4

Click on the "File" menu in the top-left corner of the Access application.

    • 5

Click "Save As" and then using the drop-down menu, select the database where you would like your file to be saved.

    • 6

Give the file a name and type it in the file name box.

    • 7

Select the "Save & Close" option to store the file for future use.
