How to Draw a Hexagon on Grid Paper
A regular hexagon is a polygon with six congruent sides and six congruent angles. It is possible to draw a hexagon with a ruler and a compass. However, using grid paper will simplify the drawing process and ensure that the sides and angles are correct. Experiment with different sized hexagons.

1
Draw a horizontal line along a grid line. Start at a grid intersection and draw the line to the right two grids long, ending at another grid intersection.
-
2
Make a diagonal line from the point you stopped in Step 1. Draw the line down over two grids. End the line one grid over to the right and two grids down.
-
-
3
Draw another diagonal line from the point where you ended in Step 2. Make this line down over two grids. End the line one grid back to the left and two grids down. This point will be four grids immediately under the point where you stopped in Step 1. You have now drawn half of the hexagon.
-
4
Create another horizontal line along the grid line. Make this line parallel to the line made in Step 1, equal in length, and four grids under it.
-
5
Draw a diagonal line from the point where you stopped in Step 4. Make this line over two grids. End the line one grid over to the left and two grids up. This stopping point will be four grids to the left of the point you stopped in Step 2.
-
6
Make a line to connect the point where you stopped in Step 5 and your starting point in Step 1. This will finish the hexagon.
-
7
Shade the hexagon with colored pencils, if desired.
