How to Connect a Sony Handycam to a Computer

      Plug in the 4 pin (small) end of the i.LINK cable into the correct port on you Handycam.

      Plug in the 6 pin (large) end of the cable into the firewire port on your computer. If you have a laptop, you may need a 4 pin to 4 pin i.LINK cable instead of the 4 pin to 6 pin.

      Turn on your computer.

      Turn on your camera. You may also need to put the camera in playback mode for the computer to recognize it.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be sure to get the right size firewire cable for your computer. You can get a 4 pin to 6 pin adapter and vice versa if you have the wrong size.

  • Do not disconnect the camera while footage is being transferred as it may case a loss of data.
