How to Install a Rock Nerf Bar 400EX

The Honda 400EX ATV is known for going off road in almost any condition, but when you take your ATV out for a jaunt, you may want to get some extra protection to the front end so it doesn't get damaged. Nerf Bars are a popular addition to most ATVs, and they can be installed fairly easily at home. Plus, they'll protect your 400EX from damage on the road, as well as add a sporty look.

Instructions

    • 1

Unbolt the stock hardware from the front foot pegs, heel guards, and the front lower motor mounts on the frame using a 3/8-inch ratchet and socket.

    • 2

Hold the left side of the nerf bar in place on the front of the ATV, then bolt the nerf bar to the front lower motor mount hole using the hardware provided in the kit and the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket. Bolt the nerf bar to the foot peg using the provided hardware.

    • 3

Clamp the vice grips around the nerf bar and the foot peg, then drill a hole in the peg using the drill and the drill bit. Then bolt the nerf bar through that hole you just drilled using a 3/8-inch ratchet and socket and an open-end wrench.

Repeat steps 2 and 3 for the right side of the nerf bar. When putting the two sides together, there is a male receiver of the tubing and the female end, so make sure the two slide together and fit tight.
