Find your cheat codes. First and foremost, you have to search, on a trusted website, for the cheat codes that you want to save. Some of the best websites are us.codejunkies.com and cheatguru.com. Search for the video game you are interested in, then for their Action-Replay cheats.

Turn on your AR. For the Nintendo DS, you have to place the Action Replay into the slot at the top of your device, with the video-game cartridge (of the game you want to play) inside of the AR. This will interrupt the normal booting of the DS and brings you to the AR menu.

Add the name of your new game. Press the "Add Game" feature and type in the name of the video game that you want the cheat for. Typing in the name is helpful because it allows your AR to be organized and lets you get to the cheat code faster.

Press "Add Code." Once you have put in the name of your video game, press on it, then press on the option that says, "Add Code." From here, you can put in the codes that you found online, into space provided. Each code is a different length, but each code completes one or more cheat-code line, so each code has to be a multiple of 16, since each cheat-code line has 16 possible characters.

Press "Save." Once you have entered your new cheat code, you get to name it then save it. Once you have saved it, you can use it while you are playing your video games.
