How to Disable Updater for Shockwave Player

The Adobe Shockwave Player is an interactive application that enables you to view 3D content, play games and display web content. When you install it, it automatically searches for updates from the Adobe server. This feature ensures that you have the latest hardware to improve display. However, if you prefer to install the updates manually when you want, you can disable the Auto updates settings.

Instructions

1. Go to the Adobe Shockwave Test Page (see link in Resources) and right-click the Shockwave movie under "Installation Complete" to launch the drop menu if you are using Windows. For Mac users, press "Ctrl" and click the Shockwave movie to launch the drop menu.

2. Scroll down the menu and click "Properties" to launch the Shockwave Settings dialog box.

3. Uncheck the "Automatic Update Service" box under "Player Update." Click "OK" to save the changes. Unchecking this option disables Shockwave automatic updates.
