How to Hook Up to the Wireless Internet for the AT&T Service
AT&T wireless Internet service uses the same phone jack as ordinary landline service. Customers can subscribe to AT&T wireless Internet service whether they have AT&T home telephone service or not. By following the instructions provided with the installation kit, you can have Internet service up and running in less than an hour.
Things You'll Need
- AT&T wireless Internet router/modem
- AT&T Internet installation CD & instructions
- DSL line filter
- Open electrical outlet
- Ethernet or USB cable
- Laptop computer
- Live phone jack
- Network key and serial code (from router)

Connect the DSL line filter into the phone jack. If you have landline service, connect the landline phone into the phone jack of the DSL filter. Connect the DSL line into the DSL jack of the DSL filter. Connect the other end of the DSL line into the router/modem.

Connect the computer to the modem. Use an ethernet cable or a USB cable. Once the service is set up, you will be able to access the network wirelessly, but the computer must be connected for installation.

Plug in and turn on the modem. If the modem is connected properly, there will be a solid green LED display. A flashing display or an orange display means there is a problem with some part of the connection.

Insert the installation CD into the computer. The CD will provide prompts during the installation process for the user to create a member ID, enter the network key and accept the membership agreement. The installation program handles the installation of the modem and other processes necessary to configure the computer.

Disconnect the computer from the router/modem. Right click the wireless icon tray and select "View Available Networks" from the menu. Select the network assigned for your service.

Enter the network key. You will need to enter the key twice. The actual characters will not show up as you type. Click connect. Open a browser window to see whether you are connected to the Internet.

Tips & Warnings
Each device that shares the DSL line must have a separate DSL line filter.
Set the data encryption to WEP in the wireless network key section if the setting is not already indicated.
You will not be able to access the Internet until you create a member ID and accept the member agreement.
The network key won't work unless it is entered exactly the same each time.
