How to Decorate Gift Packages With Dried Flowers

Because dried botanicals are attractive and long lasting, they can be used to decorate not just vases and coffee tables but also gift bags, baskets and packages. Pressed dried flowers, as well as preserved whole flowers, are creative accents that make any gift package say, "You're special."

Things You'll Need

• Ribbons
• Hot glue
• Spray glue
• Polyurethane spray

Instructions

1. Gather several stems of dried blooms and secure with a colorful ribbon. Attach the bundle of flowers to the gift package by tying its ribbon to the package or by gluing the bundle of flowers to the package using hot glue.

2. Or, choose a particularly large and dramatic dried flower and attach it to the center of the gift package with hot glue.

3. Or, spray the top of the gift package with glue and arrange dried petals on the glue to form floral or geometric designs. Alternatively, drop dried petals randomly for a natural and casual look. Allow the glue to dry before handling.

4. Attach pressed botanicals to the gift package with white glue or adhesive spray either before or after wrapping the gift. Allow the glue to dry before handling the wrapper or package.

5. Gather loose petals from dried flowers, place them in a lace sachet and tie the sachet to the ribbon on the gift package.

Tips & Warnings

• Spray the dried flowers with polyurethane, clear lacquer or hairspray to keep them from falling apart.

• Insert loose dried flower petals in the card that goes with the gift package.

• Dried flowers can crumble easily. Handle the flowers and the decorated gift package with care.
