Instructions

    • 1

Prepare or verify your data file. Your file should be a text file ending with the extension ".csv". Every address, or record, should be on its own line, separated by a carriage return. A comma should separate every data item, or field (See Reference 2). Every record should have the same number of data items. See the examples below:
      John Smith,123 Main Street,Anytown,VA,USA,22333
      Sally Jones,100 Example Avenue, Smalltown,MD,USA,20100

Under "Data," click the "Browse" button to select your data file. Choose the font, font size, spacing, and layout options under the "Text Options" section. You can select a gif, png or jpeg file to use as a background for each label.

Click "Make Labels." Labelmakr will read your data file, and your browser will prompt you to open or save the resulting mail merge file. Save it.

    • 5

Open the saved mail merge file with your PDF reader to see your results and print to your label stock.

Tips & Warnings

  • Keep the font size small to account for long names. Each record in your CSV file becomes one label.

  • Check your page margins before printing to expensive label stock. Labelmakr.com has a collection of margin test pages you can print to verify that your printer and pdf reader software are configured to print properly. These can be found at http://www.labelmakr.com/support/testpage.html

  • If you don't have a PDF reader, use the links at Labelmakr's support page to download one for free. The support page can be found at http://www.labelmakr.com/support/

  • When preparing your CSV file, make sure each record has the same number of data items to ensure consistent results.
