How to Get Rid of Adware Alert

AdwareAlert is an alleged anti-spyware program, designed to remove spyware and malware from your computer. Unfortunately, the program itself is not legitimate and can cause problems on your computer, just like spyware and malware. If you keep getting AdwareAlert windows popping up on your computer, chances are, you're infected. Luckily, removing AdwareAlert can be done in a few minutes.

      Create a back up of your registry and computer system. This is to ensure that the system can be restored if anything goes wrong during the removal of Adware Alert.

      Open the Start menu on your computer by clicking "Start" or the Windows icon. In the menu that appears, click "Search."

      Select "All Files and Folders" (if you have Windows XP). Type "AdwareAlert file" in the box. Click "Search."

      Delete the files once they've been found by right-clicking on them and selecting "Delete."

      Stop the Adware Alert processes by clicking opening the Start menu again. Click on "Run." In the box, type in 'taskmgr.exe' and click "OK." This will open the Task Manager.

      Select the "Processes "tab. Locate Adware Alert processes (AdwareAlert.exe, Setup.exe). Right-click on the two processes and click "End Process."

      Open the Start menu again, and click "Run". Type "regedit" and click "OK." This will open the Registry Editor. Select "Edit" and then click "Find." In the search bar, type any of Adware Alert's registry keys.

      Delete the processes that appear by right-clicking them and selecting "Modify" and then "Delete."

      Locate the Adware Alert DLL files on your computer by searching for them with the Search option. Open the Start menu, click "Run," and type in "cmd." Click "OK."

      Type "cd" in the Command Prompt and press the space bar. Enter the full directory where the DLL file is located (e.g. "c://desktop/documents/adwarealert.dll"). If you're not sure where the file is located, type "dir" in the box to display the contents of the directory.

      Locate the DLL file and type "regsvr32 /u NAMEOFDLLFILE.DLL." Where it says "NAMEOFDLLFILE.DLL" you would replace that with the name of the DLL file. Press "Enter."

Tips & Warnings

  • It is extremely important that you back up your registry and system before removing the Adware Alert program. If you do not back up your computer, you may lose valuable data.
