How to Find the Instructions for Assembling a Bathroom Armoire With White Finish

Finding the instructions for assembling a bathroom cupboard or armoire is necessary to ensure that the piece is solid, as every furniture manufacturer uses different designs, which include joint cuts or hardware that can connect in more than one way. Even if you have carpentry- or furniture-assembly experience, assembling your bathroom armoire without instructions can result in mistakes from broken/missing parts or incorrectly-cut pieces. You also risk cosmetic damage---especially with armoires that have a white finish as white finishes often scratch easily during assembly. Does this Spark an idea?

Remove all the pieces, hardware and packing materials from the bathroom armoire box---if you're assembling a new armoire---and check inside the box for the instructions. If you've thrown away the box and/or packing materials, skip this step.

Turn the box upside down to see if the instructions fall out, then shine a flashlight into the box, as manufacturers sometimes tape the instructions onto the inside walls or flaps of boxes. Additionally, check the exterior of the box. Search for paper instructions taped or glued directly onto the box or hidden behind any shipping labels encased in plastic pouches. Also look for ink-stamped instructions, or text referring to online instructions.

Check each piece of your armoire---side walls, front, back, top and bottom---for assembly instructions. As with furniture boxes, manufacturers sometimes tape assembly instructions to the armoire pieces or to any plastic encasing the pieces, or sometimes, ink-stamp assembly instructions directly onto the backs of pieces. If you still can't find the instructions, check in your hardware bag including any "paper-wrapped" pieces as you can sometimes find instructions wrapped and taped around included tools or large hardware.

    • 3

Sort through all of the packing materials used to protect your armoire, as instructions sometimes cling to or become lost in plastic wrap, foam sheeting and foam peanuts/nuggets.

    • 4

Call or visit the store where you purchased your armoire and ask a sales representative whether the manufacturer shipped the armoire with instructions, as manufacturers sometimes accidentally ship bathroom armoires without instructions and advise merchants or store managers of this fact. The store may also have a copy of the assembly instructions, as stores often have extra instructions from assembling furniture for display.

    • 5

Contact the manufacturer for assembly instructions or visit the manufacturer's website---especially if dealing with a used, unassembled armoire. Many furniture manufacturers not only email, fax or postal mail assembly instructions, but also provide instructions by brand name and/or model number online.

Search by manufacturer or brand name on a website devoted to providing free owner's manuals if you can't find instructions.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you don't know the name of the armoire's manufacturer because you threw away the packaging and packing materials before conducting a thorough search, or you're attempting to assemble a used armoire, check every piece of the armoire for a name, brand label or an address so that you can do a reverse business search online.

  • If you find the manufacturer's assembly instructions online, but no instructions specifically for your armoire, look by the brand name under "collection" or "bathroom set" instructions.
