How to Find Out What Kind of Browser I Have for My Laptop?

It is somewhat simple to find out what browser you have on your laptop. A lot will depend on what operating system you are running. Every operating system comes with a default browser, but you can add another one any time you want with a simple download and installation.

Instructions

Look at your desktop screen. Chances are there is a blue "e" icon on your desktop. That "e" means that your laptop has Microsoft's Internet Explorer browser. The Internet Explorer, or IE as it is abbreviated, is the default browser and is found on every Windows operating system since Windows 95.

Look for logos of other browsers. There is a chance that your laptop has an alternate browser installed. You may also see an orange "twisted fox" icon, which would indicate that you have Mozilla Firefox, another popular browser. A ship's wheel icon will indicate that you have Netscape Navigator, which can also be installed as a default browser on some systems.

Seek them all out. By following the path of clicks to "My Computer > C: > Program Files," you will see every program on your Windows laptop. In that Program Files folder you will see the folders for IE and any other browser you have on the laptop. Other browsers--such as Mozilla, Opera, Netscape and Google Chrome--could be listed.
