How to Disable AVG 8

AVG Technologies makes both a free and commercial version of its computer security software, AVG Antivirus. AVG 8 will scan websites you view in your computer's web browser for malware. Sometimes users of AVG 8 may need to disable the antivirus program if it is causing conflicts with web surfing or other applications on your computer. When you disable AVG 8, however, you will leave your computer unprotected while surfing the Internet until you turn it back on.

Instructions

1. Open the AVG control panel by double-clicking the AVG 8 program icon on your computer desktop or selecting from the "Program Files" menu option from the "Start" menu.

2. Open the "Link Scanner" menu option from the user interface by double-clicking the menu option.

3. Single left-click the check box to "un-tick" the "Enable AVG Search-Shield" and "AVG Active Surf-Shield" menu options.

4. Confirm the changes you have made to AVG 8 by selecting the "save changes" menu button. You will now have disabled AVG 8.
