How to Delete Previously Viewed Websites

At a certain point, everybody needs to delete the previously viewed websites that are stored in a web browser's history--whether you want to erase something or just clean up your computer. The goal is to locate the "history" section of your browser and clear all the information from it. This task is performed with slight differences for each browser.

Instructions

  1. In Internet Explorer

      Click on the "Safety" menu in the upper-right corner of the window, then "Delete Browsing History" (or "Clear Private Data" in earlier versions).

      Check the box next to "History" along with any other stored data you wish to delete. Uncheck "Preserve Favorites website data" if you also wish to delete your Favorites from your history.

      Press "Delete." Close Internet Explorer, then open it again.

    In Firefox

      Click on the "Tools" menu, then "Clear Recent History."

      Select "Everything" from the drop-down menu next to "Time Range to Clear."

      Check the "Browsing and Download History" box, along with any other stored data you wish to delete.

      Press "Clear Now." Close Firefox, then open it again.

    In Safari

      Click on the menu in the upper-right corner of the window with the "gear" symbol, then "Reset Safari."

      Check the box next to "Clear history" along with any other information you want deleted.

      Press "Reset." Close Safari, then open it again.
