How to Disable the Sony Vaio Assistant

The Sony Vaio Assistant can be a helpful tool for those that are new to computers. It also helps explain some of the features that come with your new Sony Vaio computer. The Assistant also takes up memory and can be a little annoying after you have learned the basics of your computer's functionality. Now you can learn a quick and easy way to disable and re-enable the assistant when you need it most.

      Click on the "Start" button on your taskbar.

      Type "msconfig" in the Start Search box. The System Configuration window will open.

      Click the "Startup" tab. A list of all programs that start on Windows startup is displayed.

      Uncheck the box next to the Sony Vaio Assistant.

      Click the "Apply" button. Click the "OK" button.

      Restart your computer.

Tips & Warnings

  • To re-enable the assistant, just do the same as above, except check the box instead of uncheck it.
