How to Fix MP3 Tags on a Mac
MP3 tags are the information that appears with every song in your music library. Within these data packs are categories for the artist, title, year and genre of each song. This information allows the user to sort her music according to her preferences. When the MP3 tags are missing information or contain bad information, trying to fix them manually is a daunting task. MP3 tag-editing programs allow the tags to be adjusted quickly on Mac computers.

1
Obtain an MP3 tag-editing program (see References below for examples) and install it on your Mac. Double-click on the application icon.
-
2
Select your iTunes library XML file from the browsing window. It is usually located in "User > Music > iTunes."
-
-
3
Open the iTunes application by double-clicking on the application icon. Ensure that you are not performing any iTunes functions before starting the MP3 tag-editing program.
-
4
Select the library or playlist in which you wish to fix the tags. You will be able to choose whether you want to review each fix before it takes place or automatically fix the songs with the program's best guess. If you review each fix, you will see the existing tag as well as the recommended tag before deciding if you want to change the tag or skip it. If you choose to automatically fix the tags, you can set a minimum "confidence level" so that the program will not change tags if the information is not verified. A screen message will confirm when you have finished fixing the songs in a particular playlist.
