How to Put an iPod Movie onto a Disc

The iPod is not just a personal audio device, it is a multimedia storage device that can retain music files, video files and pictures, among other types of data. Because of its ability to sync with a computer with the iPod USB cord, information stored on an iPod can be transferred to a computer. If the computer is equipped with a SuperDrive, a disc drive that enables a user to burn footage onto a DVD, then it is possible to put an iPod movie on a disc.

Things You'll Need

• iPod
• iPod USB cord
• iTunes
• DVD burning software such as iDVD
• Rewritable DVD
• SuperDrive

Instructions

1. Plug your iPod USB cord into your iPod. The iPod input is the narrower, thinner side. Plug the other side into the computer's USB port. ITunes will automatically launch. Wait for the device to finish syncing to your computer.

2. Click on "Movies" under "Library" in iTunes. It will be located in the left sidebar.

3. Locate the movie you just imported. Right click on it, or press "Control" and click on it. Choose "Open in Finder." If you are using a PC, you can simply click "Start" on the main toolbar and conduct a search for the file by file name. You can also open your iTunes music folder, scroll down to movies and locate the file that way as well.

4. Drag and drop the video file onto the icon for your DVD burning software. You can also open your DVD burning software: click "File" at the top of the screen and select "Open." Choose the movie file from the iTunes movie folder you wish to put on a disc.

5. Place a blank rewritable DVD into your computer's SuperDrive.

6. Click the button within your DVD burning software that instructs it to burn a DVD. This is typically a very prominent button. If you are having trouble finding it, consult your software manual or click "File" in the menu bar and select "Burn DVD." Wait for the DVD to burn.

Tips & Warnings

• Do not attempt to use the iPod while it is syncing with the computer. This will cancel the syncing process.
