How to Get a Laptop to Pick Up Wireless Service

A laptop computer is made to be portable and free of any necessary cables a desktop computer requires. This holds true for its Internet connection, and all laptop computers currently in production have the ability to access the Internet via wireless connection. However, you need to adjust some of the settings on your laptop computer before it is able to pick up and connect to a specific signal.

Instructions

1. Power on the laptop computer and wait for the operating system to boot.

2. Right-click the wireless Internet icon in the lower right corner of the desktop. This brings up a new pull-down menu.

3. Select "View Available Wireless Networks." This brings up a selection of different possible Internet connections that are in range of the computer.

4. Select the wireless Internet connection you want to use. If a password is required, you need to type it in now.

5. Wait for the laptop to connect to the Internet. In a moment the computer is going to state it has successfully connected to the Internet.
