Knowing how to change a bag will prevent paper messes.

Fellowes has been in business since 1917, manufacturing a wide-variety of office products. The company may be best known for their "Jam-Free" personal and commercial shredders. Fellowes recommends owners to use a bag for their shredders. Whether your shredder came with one or not, you can install one with ease. Only use the specific bag type recommended by Fellowes.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn the shredder's power switch off. Unplug the shredder from the wall outlet for safety.

    • 2

Open the shredder wastebasket drawer. Some models do not have a wastebasket drawer; for these, unclip the latches holding the shredder top to the wastebasket; set the top aside.

    • 3

Remove the paper or trash from the wastebasket.

    • 4

Install the shredder bag. If your shredder has a wastebasket drawer, position the bag around the hooks. If it does not, position the outer edge of the bag around the wastebasket. Close the drawer or replace the top.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use Fellowes bag number 36052 or equivalent for all personal shredders except models DM15C, C14 and SB-95C. For these models, use bag number 36053. Each commercial shredder uses a different bag; see the Resource section to find the correct bag number for your model.

  • If your Fellowes shredder is equipped with an indicator light, use it as a guide to replace the bag. When the indicator light reaches the top, the bag must be emptied or replaced.

  • Run your Fellowes shredder in reverse for 15 seconds daily; this preventative maintenance will keep your feed from becoming clogged.
