How to Quickly Become an Eagle Scout

The Eagle Scout award is the most prestigious rank available in the Boy Scouts. Only 2 percent of all Boy Scouts complete the many requirements to earn the Eagle badge. There is no minimum age for an Eagle Scout, but as of 2011 only two boys had ever done it before age 13. There should never be a rush to be an Eagle. However, if it is a goal, a boy can start working on the requirements from the time he is in the Cub Scouts.

Instructions

    • 1

Work on the Tenderfoot requirements at age 11 while you work on your Second Class requirements. There are no specific time requirements to earn a Tenderfoot, so you can earn it as soon as you can finish all the requirements.

    • 2

You can work on First Class requirements before attaining your Second Class rank. The most time-intensive requirement for First Class is to participate in 10 troop activities, three of which are overnight camp outs. You should be able to get to this point around the time you turn 12.

    • 3

After four months as a First Class, you can earn a Star rank. After six months as a Star, you will earn a Life rank. Spend six months in the Life rank in a position of responsibility and you will be eligible to interview for the Eagle rank. You must also abide by the principles of the scout oath at every point in the process.

You must use a current application from the Boy Scouts of America to apply for Eagle status. You must have at least 21 merit badges, and a list of people willing to recommend you for the rank.
