Make your smoothies with healthy fruit and yogurt for a refreshing snack.

Smoothies are a healthy and refreshing way to cool off on a hot summer day. Change up the recipe any way you like. You can use other fruits, or leave out the yogurt for a pure fruit smoothie. You can also substitute frozen peaches and substitute 1/2 cup of fruit juice for the ice. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • 2 fresh peaches or 8 oz. canned peaches
  • 1 tsp. lemon juice or orange juice
  • 1 cup low-fat plain or peach yogurt.
  • 1 cup crushed ice
  • 1 to 2 tbsp. honey, as desired
  • Mint leaves or peach slice to garnish

Instructions

    • 1

      Peel and slice fresh peaches or drain canned peaches. Sprinkle fresh peaches with 1 tsp. lemon juice.

      Place the peaches, yogurt and ice in a blender and blend until the ice is crushed into a smooth mixture.

      Taste. Sweeten with honey as desired.

      Serve in a tall glass with a straw. Garnish with mint leaves or a slice of fresh peach, if desired.

Tips & Warnings

  • Substitute 1/2 cup of fruit juice for the ice and freeze to make Popsicles.

  • Observe safety rules when using blender.
