People looking for a copy of their yearbooks often come up empty. Most schools can only afford to print enough copies to fill the orders, plus a few for the school libraries or contests. Check auction sites like eBay or Craig's List first to see if any classmates are selling the book. You can also post ads on those sites. If that doesn't work, look for the book through the school or the local library.

Instructions

    • 1

Write or visit the school and ask if it keeps an inventory of old yearbooks. If you only want to look through a book, most large schools do keep yearbook copies in the library. You may be able to purchase an extra one or get them to make a copy for you. At the same time, let someone in the school's alumni association know you want a yearbook.

Check with the public library in the town of your old school. You won't be able to buy the book, but you could make photo copies. This is a good option only if you attended school in a small town.

Use a site like Classmates, Ancestry.com, getmyyearbook.com, for assistance. These sites invite users to either post photos from yearbooks or offers yearbooks to sell. The Classmates site has a free link to yearbook pages its members have uploaded to the site. It's worth checking to see if someone from your class has uploaded your book. You may need to complete a free registration for full access to the book.

Tips & Warnings

  • Check any local garage sales and flea markets around the school. Yearbooks frequently turn up at these sales.

  • Do not over pay! 65.00 is a fair price 129.00 is not!

  • DO NOT GET STUCK ON CONDITION!!! This is a lightening strike, the very off chance to find something maybe 40 years old. Do you really want to pass on something that hard to find because it has fallen apart a little? Be accepting of any condition and hope for the best!
