How to Install a New Cabinet Door

Tired of that out-of-style kitchen? Jazz it up inexpensively with new cabinet doors.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Cabinet Knobs
  • Cabinet Latches
  • Cabinet Latches
  • Hinges
  1. Step 1

    Remove the old cabinet door.

  2. Step 2

    Attach two or three hinges evenly spaced along the back edge of the new door.

  3. Step 3

    Measure where the top edge of the door will be placed onto the cabinet base, and mark the cabinet base.

  4. Step 4

    Hold chalk string to the marks on the cabinet base and snap a chalk line. This will help you align the tops of the doors.

  5. Step 5

    Place the new door over the cabinet opening and align with chalk line.

  6. Step 6

    Mark the top hinge location on each cabinet frame.

  7. Step 7

    Open hinges and place the door against the frame, aligning hinges with hinge marks.

  8. Step 8

    Anchor hinges to the frame with the screws provided in hinge kit.

  9. Step 9

    Erase all marks.

  10. Step 10

    Attach doorknobs and catches.

on 8/3/2008 Did you countersink your hinges? You need to accommodate for the thickness of the hinges by countersinking them into the frame and into the door.
