How to Convert an MP3 to a Ringtone for Verizon
Depending on the make and model of your Verizon phone, ringtone file formats can vary. Some Verizon cell phones allow MP3s as ringtone file formats, while others require the MID format. To convert your own MP3 to a ringtone, you have to edit the song to an appropriate ringtone length of 10 to 15 seconds. You can use iTunes, which is free to download, to copy MP3s and edit their lengths. Converting to the MID file format, however, requires you to work in and out of iTunes.

Locate your new shortened MP3 outside of iTunes using "Finder" if on a Mac or "My Computer" if on a PC. Rename the file extension from MP3 to MID.

Attach the MID file to an email and send it to your Verizon phone. Open the attachment on the phone. For older phone models, go to "Options" and select "Save Sound." For touchscreen phones such as the Verizon LG EnV, select "Save as Ringtone."
