How to Create a Collage of Photos Using Fireworks
With Adobe Fireworks, you have a tool to aid you in some rather impressive designs. With Fireworks' ease of use, this product enables even the most amateur of users create photo designs such as collages with a few simple steps. These collages could be used in a scrapbook design, as web page headers and even banners. Open "Fireworks" located in your Start Menu and allow it to load on your screen. Select "New" in your Fireworks File Menu. The New Document dialog box will now load on your screen.

Choose the parameters for this new document. Type in "600" for the Width. Type in "270" for the Height. Type in "100" for Resolution. Select "White" for the canvas color.

Open the photo files you will use for this collage. Select "Open" in the File Menu. Select the name of the photo file, then select "OK." Select "Canvas" from the Modify Menu. Scroll over and select "Image Size." Set dimensions of the image to "203" for width and "150" for Height. Select "OK."

Choose "Select All" in the Select Menu. This will select all of the pixels used in the photo file. Select "Copy" from the Edit Menu. Select "Layers" in Window Menu to display your layers. Select "Options" in the top right of Layers Panel. Choose "New Layer." The New Layer dialog box will load on your screen. Type in a name for this layer and select "OK." This places the photo file into its own layer, as each photo file requires its own layer.

Click on the name of the layer you just created listed in the Layers Panel. Select and click on the location on this layer in which you want your photo file displayed. Select "Paste" in the Edit Menu. Select "Close" in the File Menu. Select "Save" when prompted. Repeat Steps 3-5 for each image to be added to this collage. When you are finished with your photo files continue to Step 6 to complete the final steps of the collage.

Align your photo files horizontally or vertically by dragging them one by one to the desired location, ensuring they are not stacked on top of each other. Select the "Crop" tool on the left panel and crop any portions of the canvas (background) you are not using. Once you have made these changes, select "Save As" in the File Menu and give your collage a name. Select "Save."
