1
Look on the Internet for companies that provide paper cups and ceramic mugs at wholesale prices. Get several quotes.
-
2
Find out who is the person in charge of purchasing supplies for the break room and for company events. Check with an administrative assistant or secretary to find out who purchases supplies.
-
-
3
State your case about why the company should discontinue the use of Styrofoam cups and present pricing information. If you suspect the person you are going to speak to may be averse to the change, do some research and provide this person with facts and statistics on why Styrofoam is harmful to the environment and to humans directly.
-
4
Enlist your coworkers. If, for whatever reason, management is unwilling to make the switch, inform your coworkers of the harmful effects of Styrofoam cups and implore each person to take personal responsibility by bringing in their own mugs, glasses or cups for their own personal use and to boycott Styrofoam cups in the workplace. Ask each person to put his or her name on the drinking apparatus.

Tips & Warnings
If you plan to use wax-coated paper cups in your workplace but need to serve hot beverages in them, use two cups to help insulate the user from the heat or purchase small cardboard sleeves like those found in coffee houses for protection.
Make sure your ceramic mugs don't have any cracks on the inside. If they do have cracks, lead may leach into your drinks.
