How to Make a Mini Sarong
A mini sarong makes a fun and simple cover-up for the beach or the pool. Although they can be found in stores, mini sarongs can often be expensive--and, even if you do find an affordable one, it may not be the right color or size for your needs. Luckily, it is easy to make your own mini sarong from home. If you have a little bit of fabric, common sewing supplies and basic sewing skills, you can make your own mini sarong in the specific color and size that you want.
Things You'll Need
- Lightweight fabric (such as loosely-knit cotton)
- Iron
- Fabric ribbon (such as grosgrain)

1
Cut out a piece of lightweight fabric that is 20 inches long and 12 inches wider than the circumference of your waist. Fold over the edges of the fabric to create a 1-inch hem. Iron the folds down.
-
2
Hem the fabric all the way around, tucking the raw edges under as you go. Iron the sarong again to get rid of any wrinkles.

3
Cut out a piece of fabric ribbon that is long enough to cover all of the edges of the sarong. Sew this trim all around the edges.

Tips & Warnings
To wear the sarong, wrap the sarong around your waist and tie the top two corners of the fabric on the side over one of your hips.
To give your sarong more flair, make it triangular, tying two of the corners over your hip and letting the third corner hang down the opposite leg.
