How to Make a House Out of Card Stock

Card stock constructions are made by cutting pieces of card stock, a flexible yet sturdy material that is used to create simple craft projects, and then folding and gluing the card stock in the shape of the desired end result. An excellent project for beginners is the building of a card stock house. Requiring only four folds and three lines of glue, the house allows a beginning craftsman to learn to use card stock and enables him to develop the skills needed to complete more complex crafts.

Instructions

    • 1

Trace the patterns once each onto a piece of card stock.

    • 2

Cut the card stock out using the scissors.

    • 3

Fold the card stock pieces along the lines as shown on the patterns. You will fold the roof once, down the middle, and the body piece three times from floor to ceiling.

    • 4

Punch a hole in the card stock along one of the ends of the body piece, halfway up the wall, and a half centimeter from the edge. Repeat on the other end of the card stock so that, once folded together, the holes are at the same height and nearly touching.

    • 5

Thread the ribbon through one hole, going in the front and out the back, then through the other end by going in the back and out the front. You may have to fold the stock partially into its box shape for the ribbon to reach.

    • 6

Apply a thin layer of glue along one end of the body piece and press it against the other end. Hold until the glue dries. You should be left with a box-shaped house, with two opposing walls also featuring points for the roof to rest on.

    • 7

Tie a bow in the ribbon which has been strung through the holes.

    • 8

Apply a thin layer of glue atop both slopes of the body and rest the roof on it until it dries.

    • 9

Decorate the house as desired with paints, markers or stickers.
