How to Repair Broken Bonsai Pots
Bonsai plants are miniature trees and shrubs that are trained to grow in various designs. Bonsai is a carefully learned art form that requires extensive study to master. It is no surprise that as much planning goes into selecting a proper pot for the plant as does the design of the plant itself. Occasionally, bonsai pots become broken or cracked, and must be repaired. The process of repairing a broken bonsai pot is fairly simple. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Stone repair kit
- Cardboard
- Putty knife
- Sandpaper
- Acrylic paint
- Small paintbrush

Fit the broken pieces of pot into the pot to identify where the pieces go. If the pot is simply cracked, skip this step.

Squeeze a 1-inch strip of each of the two resins from the stone repair kit onto a piece of cardboard and use a putty knife to mix them together. Read the manufacturer's instructions for the kit as some require additional amounts of resin.

Use the putty knife to spread the resin mixture onto the broken piece of the bonsai pot.

Press the broken piece of pot against the pot in the location where it fits Hold the two sections of the pot together for approximately 30 seconds.

Scrape the putty knife along the outside of the bonsai pot to remove any excess resin.

Allow the resin to dry overnight.

Use a fine-grade sandpaper to sand down the joint where the two surfaces meet.

Use a paintbrush to apply colored acrylic paint to the repaired section of the bonsai pot to disguise it.
